My Name
Like IJORERE, my own names have profound meanings. My father passed away just before I was born and therefore my middle name was given as “Oluropo” and this means “in exchange.” The notion is that with my father’s death, I came into my mother’s life “in exchange.” My other middle name “Enitan,” literally meaning “never-ending story.” This additionally translates to mean: There is a deep story behind her birth. That “deep story” speaks of my father’s death and my unique date of birth, Feb. 29, as a leap year baby. Finally, because I was born in America, across the Atlantic Ocean from my parents’ home nation of Nigeria; my first name became “Ola Tokunbo.” “Ola” means prosperity and “Tokunbo” means “from overseas” or “born over the ocean.” Thus my full name is: Ola Tokunbo Oluropo Enitan…
